The Five Components
The IGHM will be providing a comprehensive approach in helping mission hospitals increase their capacity to train more physicians, surgeons and nurses.
The Five Component Areas
- Infrastructure - The IGHM will assess, remedy, improve and expand infrastructure at each IGHM mission hospital. This includes electrical systems, water/waste water, housing for residents and faculty, surgical theaters, pharmacies and medical equipment.
- Education - The IGHM's educational component involves the acquisition of curriculum, in each subspecialty area, and modifying the curriculum to fit the region. This area also involves coordinating and partnering with Ministries of Education and Health.
- Human Resources - Working with local partners, the IGHM will assess recruitment and scholarship needs in addition to the training needs of staff and administrators at each hospital.
- Consumables/Logistics - The IGHM will assist with establishing reliable supply chain partners, providing systems to order and manage supply levels and training staff.
- Governance/Leadership - The IGHM partners with international, regional and local organizations, experienced in helping mission hospital Boards and hospital leaders/administrators in leadership development and mentorship programs.
Phase One Hospital Candidate Mission Hospitals
Africa and Asia
The first Phase of the IGHM includes three candidate hospitals, in areas of high need, in Africa and Asia.
These mission hospitals:
- Are in areas which focus on serving vulnerable and marginalized populations.
- Would like to start a training program to train up national physicians, surgeons and nurses or expand their capacity to train more.
- Need assistance in the areas of infrastructure, education, human resources, logistics/consumables and/or governance/leadership
- Need financial assistance in order to commence training programs or expand existing programs.
The IGHM will be coming alongside these three mission hospitals from the initial capacity expansion planning stages, to implementing those plans, coordinating partners, raising funds, monitoring progress and ensuring success. The overall goal is the creation of transformed teaching hospitals, staffed with fully trained physicians, surgeons and nurses in a sustainable system which is fully capable of independently and exponentially training more healthcare workers, dramatically improving healthcare outcomes in their communities.
Holistic Compassionate Care
Faith Based Organizations are key to reaching vulnerable and marginalized communities
The World Bank, the World Health Organization (WHO), the Gates Foundation and USAID have all determined that Faith based Organizations play a critical role in improving global healthcare outcomes in Africa and Asia.
The WHO estimates upwards to 70% of health facilities in Africa are owned and operated by faith based organizations (FBO's).
According to the WHO "FBO's train a significant portion of healthcare workers, especially nurses and midwives. In addition they often serve remote and rural areas where the public sector has difficulty in attracting and retaining health workers, thereby increasing accessibility and equitable distribution of health services for vulnerable populations".

The IGHM has been formed, by a consortium of global healthcare partners to come alongside 20 mission hospitals throughout Africa and Asia. The plan is to provide support in the five key component areas of Infrastructure, Education, Human Resources, Consumable/Logistics and Governance.
In support of these five areas, the IGHM will be providing the financial resources, awareness building as well as data collection support.
It is projected to cost in the region of $100 million (USD) over a ten year period.
The first Phase will include three hospitals and the funding for these hospitals in Phase One is $15 million (USD).

Rick is CEO of MedSend, one of the IGHM Partner organizations. He has been CEO at MedSend for 14 years. Rick spent 25 years as a corporate executive, serving as CEO, COO and Global Vice President in the software and professional services space.

Laurie is the Chief Operations Officer of the IGHM. Prior to the IGHM she served as Vice President of Development with MedSend, one of the IGHM's founding partners. Laurie also spent 15+ years as a Private Banking Account Manager in both the US and London.

Ashli currently serves as Corporate Counsel for Niagara Bottling. In addition to practicing law, Ashli currently advises and collaborates with external stakeholders on legislative and public affairs matters on both the state and federal level.

Joshua is the International Director for SIM. He previously served as the Deputy International Director for Europe and West Africa and is a medical doctor, having years of experience as a family physician and surgeon.

Charlotte is a SVP with Cambridge Holdings, LLC and, in her role, is responsible for collaborating with major health systems to develop innovative healthcare real estate projects across the U.S. Prior to joining Cambridge, she was VP of Sales with Cardinal Health.

Joe is CEO of MedShift, a medical technology company serving both practitioners, surgeons and medical device manufacturers. Prior to MedShift he was with GE Healthcare for 20 years. He was VP and General Manager for Ultrasound in the US & Canada. He also was Chief Marketing Officer for GE Healthcare in the US and Canada.

Dr. Florence Muindi is a medical doctor specialized in public health. She is the Founder and President of Life in Abundance (LIA) International. She provides strategic oversight over the work in 12 countries in Africa and 2 in the Caribbean. She also oversees the support offices in the US, UK and Europe. She has been a cross cultural missionary, initially serving among the Maasai in Kenya, then among the leprosy affected in Ethiopia.

Dr. John Nwangwu is a native of Nigeria. He is a Clinical Professor of Infectious Diseases and Epidemiology at Yale University. He has a medical degree in addition to a Masters and PhD in Public Health. He was the Director of Tropical Disease clinic at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York and Chief Epidemiologist / Director of Epidemiology and Data Management at Kern County Health Department in California. He also consulted on Covid 19 and was in Wuhan China.

Mitti is Director of Strategic (Federal) Accounts with Johnson & Johnson. His responsibilities include the entire pharmaceutical portfolio and his customers include the Federal Customers (VA, DOD, TriCare, PHS). Prior positions at J&J include Territory Representative, Hospital Speciality Representative, District Manager, National Account Manager and National Account Director. He is a 25 year retired US Army Combat Veteran.

Jennifer is PMO Director with Avangrid, a diversified energy and utility company. Prior to Avangrid she was with Unilver, working in the area of global project and program management. Prior to Avangrid, Jennifer was Principal Analyst (Metrics and Compliance, Project Strategy) with The United Illuminating Company, an electric distribution company based in Connecticut which is a subsidiary of Avangrid.

Charlie has been involved in global healthcare for over 20 years. As a dentist he has served as a medical missionary in some of the most underserved areas globally, both providing care and teaching national dentists. In addition he founded a medical equipment and supply company in 1984 which also provides medical equipment/supplies for medical missions. For ten years he also served as Mission Pastor to Southeast Christian Church, one of the largest churches in the US
